Free Comedy Every Thursday | The Library Speakeasy Miami near FIU
Dade County Comedy presents Laughs at the Library. Thursdays at 9 PM. Free entry. 10766 Coral Way, Miami.
Dade County Comedy presents. Every Thursday at nine.

Every Thursday the bookcase swings open at six, and at nine the lights go down and the mic goes up.

Stand-up has always been at its best in small rooms after dark. This one is a candlelit 1920s speakeasy with brass, worn leather and a bar built on the classics, and the mic sits a few feet from the nearest table. Small, dark and close. It is about as good as a comedy room gets.

Entry is free. Come early, take a table, get your first round in, and settle in before the show starts.

Who Is Bringing the Laughs

Dade County Comedy started the way the best Miami stories do: late at night, in a parking lot. Three local comics, Raul Hernandez, Alex Tarno and Mike Dabba, decided Miami deserved a comedy scene as good as New York's, LA's or Chicago's, and set out to build it themselves, one room at a time.

Raul hosts. Expect a lineup of comics from the Miami circuit and a host who knows how to work a room. Follow @funnyraul and @dadecountycomedy to get a feel for what is coming.

What To Order

Order something with a story. The Jekyll & Hyde pairs mezcal and tequila with Asian pear green tea and a little jalapeño heat. Purple Prose is lavender and butterfly pea flower rum that drinks as good as it looks. A Spiced Espresso Martini keeps you sharp through the closer. Mocktails, wine and draft beer are on the menu too.

The show ends, the bar does not. Your table is yours until we close at 1 AM. See the full menu.

Getting In

Entry is free with your Library card, and reserving a table gets you one: your phone number becomes your card number, and the card scans you through the street door. Cocktail attire: dress for the room. For parties larger than four, email us and we will sort it out.

Walk-ins come through the bookcase while it is open, but on busy nights it locks to walk-ins, so check the walk-in status on the homepage before you head over. Never been? Step into specialTEA Lounge, find the bookcase, and push. Directions and parking are here.
